What is a Representative?
Representatives...

-
Present the best interests of their area/district/state
-
introduce or support laws and amendments
-
serve as a political liaison for issues important to the people of their area/district/state
-
are held accountable to those they represent

Google!
It may be obvious, but simply googling your area will give you the best results.

You may have to check with a few different sites, as some of them are not up to date.
What exactly do I Google?
In terms of what you type into the google search bar, being as specific as you can is more likely to get you the results you are looking for. The basics:

-
(Zip Code) State Representative

You can of course add more information to make it as narrowed as possible. Typing your full address works best for this.

Again, double or triple checking with multiple sites is recommended.
Okay, so I found my area/state representative, now what?
Once you have found your representative, and have double or triple checked, your next step is finding their contact information via one of the websites. You may want to compare that multiple websites have the same number listed.
Then it's all about calling them. This is the best thing you can do to help enact change. Click the link below, or the section on the banner above to use our sample scripts for calling.
Calling on the phone can be scary for some, so check out some of our tips at the bottom of the page linked below for how to make talking on the phone a non-stressful experience.
